I whole heartedly give Arlene Maynard my highest recommendation as a reliable, trustworthy, knowledgable and kind caregiver for your children. My husband Anderson Libert and I employed her from June to November 2017. She was instrumental in helping us transition into family-of-four life starting the day we arrived home from the NICU with our preemie twins. She was employed with us as a baby nurse for the first two weeks and then transitioned into a night nurse role. She was such a valued employee that we decided to extend her contract an extra 6 weeks from our original agreement of 16 weeks!
Arlene is extremely professional, never once arriving late – not even by a minute – which matters after a very long day with twins. She was always very courteous to my husband, our guests and me, and she respected our privacy. She maintains a high level of personal and professional integrity.
Arlene has tremendous knowledge about newborns and babies; I often relied on her insights over our doctor’s when it came to feeding, sleeping, milestones and development. She answered countless questions for me, relying on her two decades of experience as a night nurse – specializing in twins – as well as relying on the countless books she has read. She stays up-to-date on current recommendations like those from the AAP as well as sleep training methodologies. If she wasn’t sure of the answer to a question, often she would research for me and report back in the morning.
Arlene was very patient with my interest in breastfeeding, which is challenging for twin moms, and was supportive of all decisions I made. She was also patient with my interest in providing a non-toxic/organic environment in our home. If the babies needed a certain product, she would help me research an organic version of the product. On that note – I thought I was prepared with all the baby things I needed prior to their arrival but boy was I wrong; Arlene guided us towards all the little and big things to make our lives easier, from recommending better bottles to twin-specific feeding gear.
Most importantly, Arlene was absolutely amazing with our babies. A tired, screaming baby would turn quiet and content once in her care. She expertly and patiently fed them every 3 hours at night those first couple of months. She was the first to notice when our son had a fever and coached this worried parent through what to do next. Thanks to Arlene’s sleep training methods, our babies now sleep 12 hours at night, wake up quiet and patiently waiting for us in the morning, and are very content with an easy-tomanage schedule of eating every 4 hours during the day. Even our friends of single babies are quiet jealous of this schedule!

She is extremely reliable, professional, flexible and trustworthy. Her patience and attention have helped our son reach many milestones in our short time together. Her knowledge and experience as a postpartum doula were a tremendous asset to our family as we settled into being new parents. As a mother of herself, Arlene also offers a great deal of empathy towards new moms – I found her to be supportive and encouraging when I needed it the most. She is a calming force and gave us with the confidence we needed to care for our new baby amidst the Covid-19 crisis. She was diligent and took extreme precaution to keep herself and our family safe. With no access to our support system of friends and family during the shut-down, Arlene kindly filled the role of both friend and family.

Arlene’s warm and motherly demeanor immediately put our son and us (his parents) at ease. She met him at his current level of development throughout her time with us – whether this be frequent night wakings for feeding, comforting in those early days of numerous wakings and eventually moving to helping him develop excellent sleep habits. At her time of departure our four-month-old son was often sleeping ten hour or more stretches.

Arlene is the most knowledgable person I have ever met when it comes to the ways of these little ones. She can read them like a book and always knows whats best for them. She uses her experience and science along with her unmatched ability to understand babies to provide the best of care. Our twins were born a month early and their digestive systems took a little while to fully develop. Arlene knew exactly how to care for them during this time. She helped me to get the babies on a feeding schedule and gave me suggestions and advice on routines that I will forever be grateful for. Her professionalism is completely unmatched. She is trustworthy, hardworking and so easy to talk to.
